Musician recognized by his peers, Romain Descharmes stands out as well in concert with orchestra as in recital or in music
After studying at CRR Nancy and Paris in Hugues' class Leclère, he joined the CNSM of Paris where he obtained, with honors
very good, four Higher Education Awards and Diplomas (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment and vocal accompaniment) especially in Jacques' classes Rouvier, Bruno Rigutto and Christian Ivaldi.
Since his very noteworthy debut with the Paris Orchestra, he has established himself as a new value of the French piano. He has won numerous awards in international competitions (Dublin, Hamamatsu) and is invited on several prestigious stages for programs that marry four centuries of music: Carnegie Hall in New York, Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall in London,
Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Forbidden city hall in Beijing.
Among his recent projects, Romain Descharmes has given concerts with the Orchester de Paris, the National Orchestra of Lyon, the National Capitol Orchestra of Toulouse, the National Orchestra Ile-de-France, the Bordeaux Aquitaine Orchestra, the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra by Malmö, the Qatar Symphony Orchestra.
He is the guest of festivals such as Piano aux Jacobins, La Roque d'Anthéron, Serres d'Auteuil, International Meetings F. Chopin, as well as the festivals of Chambord, Colmar, Menton, Vézère, Seals, Radio France, Montpellier, Arties in India, Cervantino in Mexico, Bemusen Serbia and is a regular guest of the Palazetto Bru Zane. They also performed at the Berlin Philharmonic with the French Youth Orchestra as part of the Young Euro Classic festival.
Pianist sought after as a chamber musician for his listening skills, his sensitivity and his broad knowledge from the repertoire ranging from sonatas to large groups, it is part of the Talweg Trio alongside Sébastien Surel and Eric-Maria Couturier and performs regularly with artists such as Ebène Quartet, Diotima and Danel, Sarah Nemtanu, Pierre Fouchenneret, Henri Demarquette, François Salque, Lise Berthaud.
Eclectic musician, he is part of the Mosalini-Terruggi cuarteto, and also plays with Quai N ° 5 with which he recorded two albums at Decca-Universal and performed on the most large Parisian halls (the Bataclan, the Cicada, the European, the Café de la Danse).
Widely praised by critics, Romain Descharmes' discography includes, among others, solo recordings of Brahms, Ravel, Fauré & Scriabine, the complete Beethoven sonatas for piano and violin with Pierre Fouchenneret. As part of its ongoing collaboration with the Palazetto Bru Zane, he records the Sonata by Dubois as well as the First concerto by Marie Jaëll
with the Lille National Orchestra. He also recorded the complete works for piano and Saint-Saëns orchestra with the Malmö Symfoni Orchestra conducted by Marc Soustrot.
At the same time very invested in pedagogy and transmission, he is a piano teacher at CRR de Paris.
